Wifi reconnection issues with low RSSI

Hello,

Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction cause I'm stumped.

I have an issue where I have an ESP32 Access Point - Station and an ESP32 Station Only connected that works great until I get to low signal strengths. Both Devices are at fixed positions and do not move.

I expected to see issues here, but I am confused on one thing I have been seeing.

The devices will stay connected up to days at a time, and if a disconnect occurs due to a beacon timeout they usually reconnect fine.

For some reason though after a while I'm only receiving 201 Disconnect errors.

However if I cycle the power of the Station it picks the Access Point up immediately and reconnects.

Why does the device see the Access Point at start up, but then not find it at all later?

Been banging my head off the desk with this, I know I missing something.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
