This got introduced here and I do not understand the behaviour:
https://github.com/espressif/esp-idf/co ... 5b70ca4071
If SPIRAM is available but not for use by malloc this change will make internal ram very tight.
So, I tried to manually setting the number of caches to zero as it seems is done if no spiram is available.
wifi_init_config_t cfg = WIFI_INIT_CONFIG_DEFAULT();
cfg.cache_tx_buf_num = 0;
However, this did render the wlan in ap mode unusable ( no connection possible). Setting cache_tx_buf_num to 4 worked tough. But is this supported in general? What are the supported values for cache_tx_buf_num?
RFC: ESP32_WIFI_CACHE_TX_BUFFER_NUM
