Re: ESP32 5GHz
Gotcha. FWIW, this has some priority in our development roadmap as you're not the only customer asking for this, but unfortunately it takes a while to design and tapeout the hardware.
Re: ESP32 5GHz
Will this new board feature new Esp chip maybe 64 bit or it will be the current wroom/wrover architecture?

Re: ESP32 5GHz
Can't say, but what advantages would you see in a 64-bit CPU? There's really not much use for >4GiB of RAM in an embedded microcontroller-like architecture like the ESP32.
Re: ESP32 5GHz
64bit would help with FPU calculations and camera stuff a lot. Any video capture of larger images like HD needs powerful cpu.
More memory is a good thing and very needed and demanded today)

Re: ESP32 5GHz
Erm... I still fail to see the use. There's no relationship between the CPUs addressing width and the FPU width; it's perfectly possible to bolt a double-precision FPU to a 32-bit machine. Same for the processing power: 64-bit doesn't immediately mean a faster CPU (it even may mean a slower CPU, depending on your architecture.) Furthermore, 64-bit integer calculations can be useful, but only if you can use them in a VLIW way, and in that case, something like a vector processor may be a better addition. And sure, more memory is more better, but the ESP32 is at 8MiB or so now; a long way away from the 4GiB that's the limit for 32-bit processors.
Re: ESP32 5GHz
Well, good points - so are they going to improve current architecture so we could access more than 8Mb of PSRAM or any ram as continuous memory blocks?
Can they embed large amount of internal fast RAM to the chip? Maybe 32Mb or more
Also PLL oscillator/synthesizer - maybe it can be improved to get faster clocks for peripherals like 100-300MHz outputs

Re: ESP32 5GHz
Sounds like useful suggestions, but maybe we're better off moving this discussion to https://www.esp32.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2772 .

Re: ESP32 5GHz
It seems new chip is coming soon. As I followed in Twitter there will be no 5Ghz in first version. Could anyone share the roadmap or estimated release date of 5Ghz supported version?
Thanks,
Bora

Re: ESP32 5GHz
I also absolutely need 5ghz in my next product revision. We use the chip to sense the WiFi environment.
Do you have an estimate of if/when this will come? Esp_sprite was mentioning end of 2019 initially.

Re: ESP32 5GHz
Yup. We won't be able to make it this year, we hope to have the first beta silicon out in the first half of 2020. (Note that this is still an estimate, standard disclaimer applies: don't count on estimates, plans can slip, your mileage may vary, offer not valid in all states, handwash only and keep away from sunlight.)
