My esp32 stopped working today... I was messing around with some code for soil moisture sensor and when I tried upload code I got an error:"a fatal error occurred failed to connect to esp32 timed out waiting for packet header". I have no red light on my esp32 like I had before. Can someone help me? Is my ESP dead and I needed to buy a new one?

I tried to change USB cable - nothing
I can see USB connected in device manager
Tried holding down boot button while uploading - nothing

Re: ESP32 not working
I think on these boards the red LED is directly connected to power. Try to measure if the 3.3V power rails is there. If not, you may have shorted out something, blowing something else up.
Re: ESP32 not working
Hi,
I have an ESP32 devkit1 with same symptoms. No red light. Very low voltage on AM1117 (1,2V VIN->should be 5V, 0,4V VOUT->should be 3.3V). From my measures, this come from the diode near the USB (input voltage 5.2V, output voltage 1.2V). On my card, the diode is a SL diode. I ordered this diode, and I am waiting for the diode. I think it is the same problem as in https://forum.arduino.cc/t/esp32-failur ... air/655168 (there is a photo of the location of the diode) or there https://www.reddit.com/r/esp8266/commen ... ini_board/
best regards

Re: ESP32 not working
Hi,
I changed the SL diode (not easy to solder, it is very little ), and ESP32 is now working.

Re: ESP32 not working
I have a similar problem. I ordered an ESP32, 38 pin on Shopee. I tried uploading a black sketch just the void setup and void loop. The indicator light is not responding but I can hear and see that it has been connected to the laptop. The are a lot of diode in the module, how do I know what to remove and solder?
