I wanted not make advertising for MT so I have the module cut off in the picture but if you already recognize it ;-) i can answere free:

the SIG of MT7688 DUO and MT7688 modul is ok with this chip antenna. btw same with MT7628 and MT7621
i like it for playing openwrt and playing/using linux - am testing/working for fun on µLinux and eMbeddedLinux for ESP32 already a longer time, it was paused cause pSRAM, but got some new pSRAM for testings and after the holiday there comes try step two on this for a custom allocation. And there is a waiting for an eMMC support. Hope this comes.

i like the smart things from MT, but am in love with ESP now in the third year near almost close fourth :P so i try to touch the things for me to work only with ESP in the future like i want it in final fun step with this and a am work on for a fast boot include mountings 8-)

i think the MT Serie has a small problem with heat dissipation; maybe that changes a passive heat sink in the MP.
It occurs more frequently when WIFI is used; when (video-mjpeg) streaming, I use a heat sink.

this Pico is a nice idea from espressif - we not know more about just in time, comes this as standard ( for sale ) or is this only test device for a next step, does it eMbedded pSRAM, how much? and if there is OSC in the package, which OSC (26, 40, ..) for later set Baudrate and so on. But i think, this can be a nice miniature package - hope too, they put the NFC in the package :)

2018 comes the 5GHz Version of ESP32 - I am already very excited how 2018 will be and what comes more.
Hope we can work with one BASE on ESP-IDF - and not need for more toolchains in the future - perhabs work with -D in the compiler and ARGs - but i think we have to learn a new in 2018 ( not knowing this sure honest ).

Back to your question - yes i am, I am satisfied with linkit smart. and for long distance there is IPX on board with a small mod like the Wrover IPX version. MT- it is more or less secondary to me and work here. ESP is always with me every day on the desk.

btw Wrover IPX - got Info from sale, that there is Wrover now available in stock.

( i feel more and more a recharge of batteries )
so many text on one question :)

best wishes

ESP32 IDF software is the main reason I love ESP32, and why its the best in the market right now.
Mediatek wins in terms of low power WiFi... MT7682 is at 290uA @ DTIM3 always-connected wifi. For battery devices, power is the #1 issue.

Hopefully Espressif can make the new ESP chip in 2018 even lower power :D

if you can use in your next PCB that is 30% smaller you can save again place cause you did not need OSC and Flash example.
On the shelves in Q4 2018

Going smalled will not help us, because we still need to include a battery that is bigger than the board, plus the led placement on the board have an importance in the box. So to avoid more circuit or wire, Smaller is not a solution ;p

Plus during this prototype, i found that the proximity of the RFID antenna to the WIFI antenna is bad for WIFI.

what is the need on active time duration for this board that your battery is enough?
mean, you need allways WIFI/BT/BLE on? what minimum mAh you need?

RFID, what frequence you need? ( Detective work ? antitheft ? ) there are possibles with PCB antenna for RFID too.

Ok ..
how you think over this ESP32-PICO breadboard modul ;-)
the most taken space is from USB, LDO and button parts.
the complet ESP32 SoC and crystal and flash and so on is in the PICO package.
:)
( i like this - cause there are 2 rows free on a standard breadboard on each side now)

i wonder why marketing appart from espressif is so long waiting to bring this out as a "standard" breadboard modul.

Yes, this is the perfect breadboard module : all ESP32 pins available, borderless, with 2 breadboard rows accessible on each side.

Please Espressif, release it for us, mere mortals too ! :)

Oh ..

info taken from the datasheet

i do not believe this but i have to ask before i think detailed :

ESP32 SIP-D4
VDD_SDIO_NC.png
VDD_SDIO_NC.png (67.24 KiB) Viewed 15319 times

looks like there is no support for 1.8V pSRAM ?
is there a 3.3V Flash in the SIP ?

so we can use 3.3V pSRAM then over regular 3.3V power supply ?

so i can think we get a second SIP with eMbedded pSRAM ?

does VDD_SDIO never be connected in the SIP in future then?

i think then PIN26 Name better then N.C. VDD_SDIO_NC makes no sense, NC is NC and remains NC.

There is a complete re-assignment of the SIG PINS?

Current PIN assignment:
IO16 and IO17 was CS and CLK for pSRAM
and also SD_CMD was a /CS

very confusing
Who can ever think of something?
but let see what comes in next time on desktop
and revise on documents -
to early to say what happens in initial revision and in this monolog.

That looks like the same arrangement of pins as in D2WD, is it not?
ESP32-D2WD’s pins GPIO16,GPIO17,SD_CMD,SD_CLK,SD_DATA_0 and SD_DATA_1 are used for connecting the embedded flash, and are not recommended for other uses.
