Re: ESP32 VIN pin as 5V output
My ESP32 DEVKIT V1 board (same for 3 of same board) shows 3V at VIN when powered with the USB cable. Has the spec changed since these original posts in 2019, or is there a way to select a 3V or 5V at VIN? My project requires 5V logic to enable the boards my ESP32 is controlling, so not having 5V at VIN will be a real pain to design around.

Re: ESP32 VIN pin as 5V output
I should have found your post sooner @hondaman900 or be smart enough to measure the voltage on VIN
I expected VIN to be 5V as people posted for other ESP boards and is even in this professionally looking guide: https://linuxhint.com/power-esp32/#2 .
But when I connected 5V to VIN on my ESP32 DEVKIT V1 board it released magic smoke
Seems like the board still works when powered on through 3v3 pin but doesn't work when powered on through USB (even though the power LED is on) and serial communication is also gone.
Any clue what might have died? Most probably the AMS 117 voltage regulator, right?
