VSCode not showing data types for local variables

Using VSC with Espressif Extension v1.5.0.
When I hover my mouse over a local variable it does not display the data type. Hovering over a global variable it does.
I have the same project opened in PlatformIO, and when I hover over any variable it shows its type.
Is this a VSC issue, or something wrong with Espressif's Extension ?
