My ESP32 (CP2102) works fine on my PC but not on my laptop.

If I plug it into a USB port on my laptop it powers up but Windows 11 does not recognise it. However, if I plug in an external USB hub the ESP32 will get recognised and work fine. To be clear, if the external hub is plugged into the laptop the ESP32 will work either plugged into the laptop or into the external hub. Unplug the external hub and the ESP32 no longer works in the laptop.

What is this wizardry? It makes no sense to me that I need to plug in an external hub to make the ESP32 work.

The laptop is an ASUS Vivobook, it has an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H running on the AMD Promontory/Bixby FCH CHipset. Device Manager reports the laptop USB hubs as AMD USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller and USB Root Hub (USB 3.0).

Sounds like there is an issue with that specific USB PORT of the laptop.
